Tags

Planning a trip to idyllic Formentera? Welcome to paradise! Read the tips we’ve got lined up for you in this article to enjoy the island to the full.

How to get around the island

Hire a boat:
one of the main things you need to know in order to organise your trip to Formentera is how to get around the island. One of the best ideas for Formentera is to hire a boat and sail around its coastline. This will enable you to discover some “hidden-away” spots that can’t be accessed in any other way. Hiring a motor boat or sailing vessel is a great idea, not only because it will give you total freedom in terms of moving around the island but also because it will serve as your “base camp”, with all the convenience involved in taking your accommodation with you, to spend the night where you please, dine in your favourite coves... and of course save the expense of a hotel.

Hire a motorbike: if you fancy exploring the island’s picturesque interior, a wonderful alternative is to hire a motorbike. This will enable you to tour around Formentera, stopping off as you go and, above all, savouring its charms at their most authentic. Bicycle and motorbike hire are available at the port of La Savina.

Formentera’s finest beaches

Plan your trip to Formentera once you’ve checked out some of its main places of interest. This will enable you to get the most out of your stay. As you no doubt know, the island’s top attractions are its beaches. We recommend you make sure not to miss the following beaches: Illetes, Mijorn, Caló des Morts and Caló de Sant Agustí. But we give you more options in our blog.

Unforgettable sunsets

What could be better than enjoying the end of the day gazing at a stunning sunset from on board a boat? In Formentera you’ll find plenty of coves from which to observe the finest sunsets. If you want to contemplate them from land, one of the liveliest places is Ses Illetes beach, where many of the beach bars organise great parties to bid farewell to the Sun King. Another unmissable place for savouring sundown in Formentera is the beguiling Saona cove. Simply magical!

Where to eat and drink

If there’s one thing Formentera doesn’t lack it’s beach bars! You’ll find some of the island’s most famous bars at Ses Illetes beach. The very long Mijorn beach is well known as a place for slightly more laid-back venues, and in some of the villages, such as Es Pujols, you’ll find countless restaurants to whet your appetite. Take a look at some of our recommendations in this article.
