Boat maintenance is crucial to ensuring optimal performance and longevity. A well-maintained boat not only provides a safer and more enjoyable boating experience, but also preserves the value of the vessel over time. At Coral Yachting, we pride ourselves in offering luxury yachts in perfect condition to enjoy the waters of Ibiza, and the best maintenance team to support our clients. Here are seven essential tips to keep your boat looking as good as new.

  1. Regular cleaning

After each use, it is advisable to wash the hull and deck with fresh water to remove salt, which can corrode the materials. Use boat-specific cleaning products that do not damage the surfaces. Don't forget to also clean the interior and ventilate the compartments to prevent the build-up of moisture and mildew.

  1. Engine inspection and maintenance

The engine is the heart of your boat. Conduct regular inspections to detect any signs of wear and tear. Change the oil and filters regularly. Also, check the cooling system and make sure the belts and hoses are in good condition.

  1. Battery maintenance

Batteries require proper maintenance to ensure efficient operation. Check electrolyte levels regularly and charge batteries properly. It is important to keep the terminals clean and well connected to avoid problems on start-up and to ensure a constant electrical supply.

  1. Surface protection

Use appropriate protectors and covers to shield paint, wood and other materials from the sun. Wax them periodically to maintain their shine and protection. For metal items, such as stainless steel, use specific products that prevent corrosion and maintain their polished appearance.

  1. Check the electrics

Inspect the wiring, connections and electrical devices regularly. Make sure there are no signs of corrosion or wear. It is also advisable to keep a kit of electrical tools and some spare parts on board to solve any issues that may arise.

  1. Safety equipment maintenance

Check and maintain all safety equipment, including life jackets, fire extinguishers, flares and signaling devices. Check expiration dates and replace equipment as needed to comply with marine safety regulations.

  1. Hull inspection and maintenance

Regularly inspect the hull for cracks, blisters or signs of osmosis. If you find any problems, repair them immediately to prevent further damage. Applying a coat of anti-fouling paint each season is also crucial to prevent the growth of algae and other marine organisms.

At Coral Yachting, we understand the importance of proper maintenance and help you keep your boat ship-shape all year round. We offer comprehensive boat care and maintenance services, making sure your boat is always in top condition. Count on us to maintain your boat and enjoy plain sailing!
