The best boating outfit

Tags

If you are planning a boating vacation in Ibiza and Formentera, this article is for you. Something you should take into account when preparing for your trip is the type of clothing you should bring. Traveling by boat is substantially different from any other type of travel, as far as clothing is concerned and, therefore, comfort is a must when it comes to choosing what to wear. What is the best outfit when traveling by boat? Read on to find out more.

White soles

Remember to wear white-soled shoes. This is the cornerstone of seafaring etiquette. Other colored soles leave marks on the deck and sailors are tough on this issue.

Waterproof

Even if you set sail in the middle of August, keep in mind that nights at sea can sometimes be cool and wet and you can always get splashed by the waves. So, don't forget to pack a light waterproof jacket.

Sweater

The temperature difference between day and night is considerable at sea. For this reason, another essential item in every sailor's suitcase is a warm sweatshirt.

Pants, the most comfortable option

You could say that the most comfortable outfit to wear on a boat during the day is a combination of shorts, swimsuit and cotton T-shirt. We recommend bringing a good assortment of swimsuits, and also a pair of long pants for the evenings.

Cap or hat

Keeping your head covered will save you from burns, sunstroke and other rookie sailor mistakes.

Sunscreen

Another essential item in your suitcase is sunscreen for face and body, as well as a good moisturizer for after showering. Your skin will thank you for it!

What clothes should be avoided on board a ship?

Black clothing

Wear light and neutral colors. Dark colors should always be avoided, as they absorb heat and are impractical.

Light clothing

Avoid flowing dresses and baggy shirts on board, if you don't want them to end up hanging from the mainmast.

Uncomfortable shoes

Keeping your balance on board is essential. For safety reasons, avoid wearing heels and wedges on the boat.

Loose hair

Don't forget your scrunchies if you have long hair! It is uncomfortable to have it loose, as it can prevent you from even seeing well, and it is almost always windy at sea.

Now you know everything you need to know to get your boat look right, you just need to choose your boat, pack your bags and enjoy a pleasant vacation sailing around Ibiza and Formentera. Sounds great, don't you think?
